Mason Jar Grassheads are a fun way to celebrate Tu B'Shevat, the coming of spring or Earth Day.

Your children can use whatever materials they wish to create their fun grasshead faces. All you will need is a whatever glass jar you have at home, in any size, stickers, washi tape and decorations, soil and grass seeds.

Start with creating the jar. We used colorful washi tape and face stickers, but you can use any materials you want. Regular school glue will work for most light, flat decorations. Sharpis will be great too!

After your jar is ready, go outside and fill about 3/4 with soil, then add about 1 tsp of grass seeds and water.

Water your grasshead a little bit everyday and watch it grow quickly! :)

Planting Parsley

Last week we celebratd Tu B'Shevat, the birthday of the trees, a type of Jewish Earth Day. A perfect way to get into the spirit of the holiday is to do some indoor planting.

Sunshine, water, loving care, and a bit of luck is all you need to grow parsley. You can use parsley seeds or small parsley plant, either way - it's going to be fun!

You will need a small flowerpot, potting soil, parsley seeds or parsley plant, paint, markers, stickers and washi tape.

Begin by allowing your child to decorate the pot, and let dry. We started with some paint, washi tape and pompoms.

Next, we added the potting soil and the parsley plant, and watered the plant.

Place your plant in a sunny location and be sure to water it every few days or whenever you feel the soil is too dry.
