Ardenwood is a Victorian era working farm with a blacksmith shop, farmyard, Victorian garden and house, train rides and more. Read about our visit here. 

Thursday, 3/2/17
Animal Feeding - 3pm: Check for eggs and bring hay to the livestock. Learn all the animals’ favorite foods as we help tuck them in for the evening.

Saturday, 3/4/17
Spring Gardening - 10:30am: Warmer weather and longer days means spring  is right around the corner! Hop on down to the  garden as we ready the beds for planting.
Meet the Bunnies - 11:30am: Come  meet  the  farm  rabbits.  Learn  why  they  have big ears, their favorite food and  how they  communicate.  See  if  you  can  find  the  softest  part of a bunny. 
Fun with Felting - 2pm: Have some good, clean fun as we learn how felt  is made from sheep’s wool, and then make a felt  toy to take home.
Corn Toss - 2pm: What could be more fun than tossing bags full  of corn into a hole? Probably nothing. We’ll dis- cuss the disputed history of America’s favorite  corn game, then try a toss. 
Animal Feeding - 3pm: Check for eggs and bring hay to the livestock. Learn all the animals’ favorite foods as we help tuck them in for the evening.

Sunday, 3/5/17 
Rabbit Rendezvous - 10:30: Hop on over for a warm welcome from some of the farm’s furriest residents. Learn why rabbits are great hoppers and how they use their long ears to sense danger.
Rope Making & Hay Hoisting - 1pm: Make rope with an antique machine, and then see how lots of rope plus a few pulleys make hoisting hay bales into the barn loft a cinch. 1:30-2:30pm.
Beautiful Trees - 2pm: From Bald Cypress to Yew, lovely specimen  trees fill the estate of George and Clara Patter- son. Stroll the grounds, see some special trees  and hear their stories.

Meet the Chickens - 10:30am:
Check out the coop full of chickens! Discover why they like to roam around the farmyard and scratch and peck at the ground while you feed them a little snack.
Apple Cooking - 11am: What does it take to go from seed to treat?  Learn about our different apples and taste a tid- bit of some sweet apple goodness cooked up in  the Country Kitchen.
Farmyard Story Time - 1pm: The Little Red Hen, the Billy Goats Gruff and other farm friends are waiting to meet you! Join  the story circle for some classic barnyard tales  before visiting the main characters.
Beginning Embroidery - 2pm: Victorians loved to embroider and you will too!   Learn some basic embroidery stitches and you will be able to decorate all sorts of cloth objects. Training materials supplied.

Sunday, 3/12/17
Johnny Appleseed Day - 11am: Discover the story of American Folk hero  Johnny Appleseed, learn some apple history  and taste a variety of delicious apples! Tree  planting, apple cider pressing, and crafts for  kids will round out the day. 
Animal Feeding - 3pm: Check for eggs and bring hay to the livestock. Learn all the animals’ favorite foods as we help tuck them in for the evening.

Wednesday, 3/15/17
Toddler Time - 10:30am: Bring the tots out for an exciting morning at the farm. Read a story, do some chores, and meet some farm friends. Little ones will enjoy a variety of activities at their own pace. Ages 1-4.

Sheep Sheering Day - 11am: Spring has sprung and it is time for our  sheep’s annual “haircut”. Watch as the  farm’s sheep get sheared; then, try your  hand at wool carding and see the transfor- mation from fiber to yarn at the spinning  wheel. You can even make your own wooly  lamb to take home.  

Sunday, 3/19/17
Garden Birds - 8am: Walk  through  the  beautiful  gardens  and  wood- lots  of  the  farm  in  search  of  early  spring  migrants.  Perhaps  the  magic  fountain  will  draw some colorful visitors!  Beginners welcome. No  Ardenwood admission fee for this early morning program.

Stilt Walkers - 1:30pm: Want  to  be  taller?  Improve  your  balance?  Give  stilts  a  try.  It’s  fun.  Guess  why  farmers  used  these fun tools in the past.

Wake Up the Farm - 10:30am: Rise and shine little farmers! Say “Good morning!” to the sheep and goats and lend a hand as  we prepare a morning snack for the farm animals.
Old Fashioned Butter Makin’ - 11am: Before modern grocery stores, people needed  to make their own staples at home. Discover an  easy way to make butter from cream then sample your tasty concoction on crackers!
Rainmakers - 1pm: Make your very own rainmaker with corn from  the farm. Learn how the ancients made music  to call rain to feed their crops.
Learn the Ropes - 2pm: Learn  how  a  few  twists  and  turns  on  our  antique machine makes rope making a cinch.
Animal Feeding - 3pm: Check for eggs and bring hay to the livestock. Learn all the animals’ favorite foods as we help tuck them in for the evening.

Sunday, 3/26/17
Meet The Chickens - 10:30am: Where  do  the  chickens  live?  Find  out  where  they  lay  their  eggs,  how  they  sleep,  and  much  more! Meet at the chicken coop.
Corn Mosaics - Noon: Learn how to turn our freshly - harvested Indian  corn into a fun craft for the whole family! Use  the rainbow of colored kernels to make your  own mosaic.
